Cincinnati is not one market — it is a couple dozen business districts that each read differently from the street, and a sign that works on Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine will fail on a suburban pad site off I-71. We have been building and installing commercial signage across all of them for more than thirty years, and that neighborhood-by-neighborhood experience is what keeps projects from stalling in review or getting reprinted at the wrong scale.

Downtown and the CBD are dominated by high-rise tenant identity, garage and parking wayfinding, and lobby directories that have to coordinate with building standards. Over-the-Rhine is historic-district work: blade signs, gold-leaf and painted window lettering, hand-finished dimensional letters, and mounting details that respect masonry facades. Oakley and Hyde Park lean toward boutique retail and restaurant storefronts where a projecting sign and a well-lit awning do most of the selling. Norwood and Madeira mix light industrial with neighborhood retail. Blue Ash, Kenwood, Montgomery, and Sharonville are corporate campuses, medical office buildings, and multi-tenant pylons along Reed Hartman and Montgomery Road, where monument signs and directional packages matter more than a single storefront.

Out along the I-71 and I-75 corridors we handle the same work in Mason, West Chester, Fairfield, and Springdale — often for Cincinnati companies opening a second or third location who want one vendor holding the whole rollout.

Every illuminated sign we sell is built on our own floor in Hamilton, thirty minutes from downtown. That includes UL-listed channel letters in front-lit, halo-lit, and reverse-lit configurations; monument signs with engineered foundations; multi-tenant pylons; storefront wall signs and projecting blade signs; awning graphics and window lettering; and full-color digital LED message centers for schools, dealerships, churches, and retail.

Inside the building we produce lobby feature walls and dimensional logos, floor-by-floor directories, wayfinding packages, and ADA-compliant tactile and braille room identification that passes inspection the first time. Our fabrication department runs waterjet cutting, metal forming, painting, and assembly in-house, so architectural one-offs and unusual materials are a normal Tuesday rather than an outsourced special order.

We also service what is already on your building. Night audits, face replacements, cabinet repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and fluorescent-to-LED retrofits are a large share of our Cincinnati workload — and we service signs we did not build.

Nearly every permanent commercial sign in the city requires a sign permit from Cincinnati Buildings & Inspections, and electrified signs require a separate electrical permit and a UL listing. Allowable sign area, height, and projection are set by the underlying zoning district, so identical signs can be approved on one block and rejected two blocks away. Properties inside a historic district or an urban design overlay — most notably Over-the-Rhine, parts of Downtown, and several neighborhood business districts — face an additional design review step that materially affects the schedule.

We handle the whole package: zoning research before you fall in love with a design, scaled site plans and elevations, engineered and sealed drawings where required, submittal, and follow-up with the reviewer until the permit is issued. Budget roughly two to four weeks for a routine review and four to eight weeks when a historic-district review or a variance hearing is involved. Landlord and property-management approvals typically run in parallel, and we will produce the submittal exhibits those approvals require as well.

Most sign vendors in this market are brokers. They sell you a sign, email the artwork to an out-of-state manufacturer, and hire a local crew to hang it. When the LED driver fails in year two, there is no one to call. We design, fabricate, permit, install, and service under one roof with our own employees and our own trucks, which is why a service call in Cincinnati usually gets a same-week response rather than a work order that disappears into a queue.

Practically, that means one point of contact from concept through final inspection, engineered drawings on every job, a written timeline you can hold us to, and a warranty backed by the people who actually built the sign.
